  • YWCA Duluth is open by appointment only. The Building for Women is open 8am - 5pm, Monday - Friday. 

  • No, YWCA Duluth did not close. In 2025, YWCA Duluth donated their Spirit Valley building to Divine Konnections and consolidated  their administrative and programmatic offices in the Building for Women.

  • YWCA Duluth has a history of creating programs that grow to become their own organizations or part of another organization's offerings. In this case, Divine Konnections, a BIPOC women led nonprofit with lived experience, was the natural next organization to continue the legacy of providing housing to young mothers and childcare to the West Duluth community. Donating the Spirit Valley building supported Divine Konnections' ability to offer these direct services.

  • YWCA Duluth just ended a year-long community assessment with results being released in 2026. YWCA Duluth is using results to develop programs, short term initiatives and partnerships; starting a New American Social Services Hub in partnership with Justice North and funded by the State of Minnesota to make life more accessible to immigrants and refugees; facilitating  a Young Leaders Program that pays young people to work in outreach and program development and participate in mentorships; and hosting events that joyfully gather community and advances advocacy serving communities facing barriers.

  • Donations are used to fund our Young Leaders program – paid internships in outreach and program development; bolster our Community Events – meaningful and transformational experiences that uplift systematically excluded groups; and retain our Program Directors – powerful and impactful leaders who make a living wage in Duluth.

  • Part of our mission is to empower women which is inherently feminist! We have always advocated for the social, political and economic equality of women – and we’re not stopping now!

  • Yes, YWCA Duluth is a local branch of YWCA USA.

  • YWCA used to stand for Young Women’s Christian Association but the national organization changed its official name to YWCA USA in 2015 to become inclusive of all religions. YWCA is not a religious organization but recognizes the freedom of choice for its employees and participants.

  • No! Although both our organizations have long histories and we are active partners, we are two totally distinct organizations.
