New Neighbors Program

As we navigated our Community Assessment in 2025, it became evident that there were severe gaps in services for our immigrant and refugee neighbors. In response, we partnered with Justice North and Eshara to apply for a state grant and began the New Neighbors Program in 2026. Through one-to-one advocacy, the program helps participants access legal resources, workforce pathways, public benefits and whatever essential community services are needed.

We meet people where they are — at home, at work, in community spaces and virtually to reduce barriers and strengthen equitable access. All services are confidential and no identifying information will be kept to protect those who access our program.

We keep each other safe.

Grassroots efforts by our organization are strengthened by collective action in our community. To address the ongoing needs of our immigrant neighbors to pay rent and utility expenses, we have started a New Neighbors Mutual Aid Fund. Donations will go directly to those in need and YWCA Duluth will not retain any funds for any reason.
