Join us for our 2nd Annual Gender Joy Art Show held at Zeitgeist from May 2nd - 31st. With local artist Amy Varsek curating the show, and a community art project to kick off the opening on May 9th from 5-7pm, this year’s event is sure to showcase the joy and celebration that comes with expressing our genders freely, publicly and without apology!

To gear up for the show, Amy offered three 90-minute art workshops for girls and gender-expansive youth aged 10-18. These free workshops explored the theme of gender joy through identifying emotions and using them to create art. Participants also learned about contemporary and historical artists that uplift marginalized voices through portraiture and used them as inspiration to create self portraits.

Because of support from the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council, North Shore Bank and JS Print Group, we are able to keep this a true community art show – participation is free and artists will keep 70% of their profit. There will be light appetizers offered, a lemonade stand for all and a cash bar available. By choosing to respond to these challenging times through hosting the Gender Joy Art Show, we are resetting our current narrative to one of celebration and resiliency.
