Early Childhood Education Center

YWCA Duluth’a Early Childhood Center is a 4 star ‘Parent Aware’ rated center that uses early literacy and developmentally appropriate curriculum to ready children for school, in addition to school readiness, our center takes an ‘Anti Bias’ approach to teaching and children learning.  Children are taught to celebrate and respect differences in each other, and we work to have teachers that are representative of the children and families that we serve. In 2016,  74 children and their families were served through YWCA of Duluth’s Early Childhood  Center. YWCA Duluth has partnered with Head Start since 2005, offering Head Start and Early Head Start services that monitor health, growth, learning and developmental milestones to income eligible families.  In the fall of 2011 we started a new project called Circle of Security with parents and caregivers at our Center. Focused on attachment theory and research, it works with the parents and childcare staff to give them new skills and tools to provide quality care and parenting. Secure attachment is the foundation  of healthy social/emotional development and mental health in children and impacts every aspect of their lives including the ability to learn.
